Director of Galleria dell’Accademia – Florence
Dr. Cecilie Hollberg was born in Germany. She did her university studies in History, Literature, Political Science, Italian and German Language and Literature at the universities of Rome, München, Göttingen, obtaining various scholarships. She gets a doctorate in Medieval History. Technical-scientific officer in the Staatsliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden and in the Kulturhistorisches Museum Magdeburg, she was also an external collaborator of the Deutsches Historisches Museum in Berlin. She has curated several exhibitions, including the one for the 600th Jubilee of the University of Leipzig in the Art Collection of the University of Leipzig and the one of the Land Niedersachsen at the Niedersächsisches Landesmuseum Hannover. From 2010 to 2015 she was Director of the Städtisches Museum Braunschweig, while from the 1st of December 2015 she has become Director of the Galleria dell’ Accademia in Florence. She teaches “Curatorial Studies and Museology” in several institutes of history and art history at the University of Berne (Switzerland), Leipzig, Göttingen, Braunschweig (Germany). She is author of different scientific publications and editorial activities. She has organized conferences and contributions and she is also curator of catalogs. She maintains contacts with academic institutions in museums and universities in Germany, Italy, France.
