President of the Academy of Design Art in Florence, former Superintendent of the Florentine Museum Pole – Florence
Cristina Acidini was born in Florence and is an art historian. She worked at the Ministry of Cultural Heritage from 1981 to 2014. She directed the Opificio delle Pietre Dure, a national institute of the Ministry dedicated to scientific research and to the practice and restoration teaching. She was Superintendent of the Florentine Museum Pole (when it included 27 state museums, including the Galleria dell’Accademia and the Galleria degli Uffizi) and Responsible for the protection of the historical and artistic heritage of Florence. She has promoted and directed restorations, museum renovations, exhibitions, studies and publications, with international experiences and recognitions. She is the author of books, essays and two novels. Since 2015 she has been President of the Accademia delle Arti del Disegno in Florence, founded by Giorgio Vasari in 1563. Among other positions, she is Vice President of the Fondazione di Studi di Storia dell’Arte Roberto Longhi, Florence.
